This week at JB Carpentry Plus LTD, we have started building the new and improved roof and loft extension for our customer in Brookmans Park. 3 Steel beams were delivered and carefully crane lifted onto the roof and the 2 ground beams were fitted into position by hand. Once these beams are in place, work can begin on the timber floor joists to create a platform for the new floor. This platform must be completed in order for us to lift the ridge beam into position at the highest point of the roof. The ridge beam is then used to hold up the rafters which will eventually support the roof. The rafters are then fitted at the front of the property with spaces for the Velux windows to be installed. At the rear of the property, the new roof will be flat from the ridge up to the exterior wall. This will allow a much larger space in the loft than before our work began, creating plenty of space for the master bedroom and en-suite bathroom.
